TAMARSIDE JUNIORS

CLUB HISTORY

In 1991Tamarside Community College built a Sports Complex for its pupils and appointed Darren Stewart to its staff to promote a community programme.

One of the activities was under 10s football and from this session a 5-a-side team was entered into the Kitto centre 5-a-side league on a Saturday morning. Needless to say the side won the league and entered the 11-a-side league the following season under the sponsor’s name of G Wyett Lanscapes managed by Bob Blagdon.

The following season the need arose to create a club structure as the community sessions at the sports Complex grew in popularity and Tamarside football club was born.

Since that date the club has never looked back and still adopts the same approach to community football as it did 15 years ago with the majority of the players coming through the community and coaching school.

The clubs approach to coaching and standards ensure the trophy cabinet is never empty and last season saw the 100 th honour achieved (either a league or cup winner/runner up) the majority of these achieved in the top divisions of the DJM.

In addition to representing the Tamarside club many youngsters have achieved personal honours by representing the league rep sides, Schoolboy Associations, South West regional squads and hundreds of players have passed through professional centre of excellences at a variety of ages however we are still awaiting our firstTamarside full international!!!!!

The demand to play for our club continues to grow and the Tamarside Kings was added to the football network to ensure more youngsters had the opportunity to play for our club.

We were pioneers of girls football and have had many girls and ladies teams compete under the Tamarside banner and continue to do so.

The football does not stop at 18 however as we have 2 mens sides and a veterans to keep you playing at the club for life!!!!

Our facilities include indoor training at the College with our own grass mini-soccer and 11-a-side pitches and a floodlit full size pitch for our seniors.

Last year saw the club achieve charter standard status from the Football Association. Over the years thousands of people from players to parents, managers and club officials, supporters and sponsors have contributed to our great club and we would like to thank them all.
